Design
The Arcata is new for October 2026 and was designed to capture the small square handbag with our own unique style. The arched base is lined with a foil-embossed leather that adds structure and visual interest, clearly setting apart our bag from others that share the same basic shape. The magnetic clasp is oriented so the flap closes inside of the bag, maintaining a clean exterior.
Details
Emerald leather is one of our favorites at Uptown Common. Paired with the copper foil-embossed leather interior was a pairing that made immediate sense. The double saddle stitch technique features green and brown thread that ties the interior and exterior together. Every piece of leather is cut, sewn, and finished by hand. Solid brass hardware is used for the d-rings and magnetic closure
Materials
The leather for this bag was sourced from two different Italian tanneries. The Emerald leather is from an Italian Tannery, MPG Industria Conciaria while the copper foil-embossed leather come from La Perla Azzurra. German sourced thread, engineered for hand-sewing, is used for longevity alongside the brass finished hardware.
Care
To maintain the beauty and integrity of your purchase, we recommend treating it with care when using, but don't be afraid to use it. Good leather pieces need to be used! Simple maintenance practices, such as proper storage using the included dust bag, can effectively preserve the longevity of your piece.
Because leather is a natural material and also because each piece is sewn by hand, it may have small imperfections. They are part of the charm of the bag.
Patina is also something to expect with your piece as that is one of the many benefits of using vegetable tanned leather. The color will deepen and it will begin to get softer and shinier the more you use it, making it even more uniquely yours.

Our dedication to excellence extends beyond materials; it encompasses the artistry and craftsmanship illustrated in every piece we create.
Grant quite literally hand cuts and hand sews each and every piece. All designs are his originals.
Leather is always vegetable tanned and sources from several of our favorite tanneries in Italy, Spain and the US.
Hardware is solid metal, usually brass.
